Position Summary

Thales Canada Defence & Security is looking for a Manager of Engineering Delivery. The Manager of Engineering Delivery is the Head of Discipline (HoD) responsible for the Engineering Delivery (HoED) capability across the organization. They are also the Resource Manager for the Engineering Delivery Managers (EDMs), and support programs as an EDM. The Manager of Engineering Delivery reports to the Director of Engineering.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Deploy adequate practices and tools tailored for EDMs and Work Package Managers(WPMs) to reach the required maturity according to Project/Product delivery challenges.
  • Work with the discipline delivery team to ensure efficiency by identifying gaps and associated actions to support delivery continuous improvement.
  • Manage and develop people/skills & allocation to products/projects; Responsible for staffing EDMs on project/product in order to meet Program needs.
  • Contribute to Bids/Products and Projects peer reviews to reduce engineering risks and increase confidence to deliver.
  • Working as a technical manager across the Project Engineering Lifecycle: development activities, risks and opportunities, schedules, etc.
  • Responsible for the technical program deliverables.

Minimum Requirements

  • A degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience leading a technical team, and as a Work Package Manager or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a people or resource manager
  • Experience in the Defence industry
  • You are able to lead and manage technical engineering projects, meeting the requirements with a clear view of the risks and opportunities; You are a leader who looks forward to occupying a position of responsibility within a challenging environment; You are willing to engage and develop your team using collaborative work and challenging approaches.

 

Special Position Requirements

  • Type of Role: Hybrid (Home/Office) – flexibility to work from home, but expected to be in office as required to support the business.
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week.
  • Physical Environment: Office environment.
  • Travel: As required.
