Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced PMO (Project Management Office) Director to join our Information Technology team. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Information Technology, the PMO Director will play a pivotal role in leading and enhancing our project management practices and methodology and tools, ensuring the successful delivery of IT projects aligned with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in overseeing project portfolios within a complex IT environment.

Lead and manage a team of Project Managers (PMs) responsible for the successful execution of IT projects. Approximately between 5-10 resources including a mixture of employee and contracted project managers.

Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.

What you'll do

• Develop and articulate a comprehensive PMO function, aligning it with the overarching IT Strategy and organizational objectives.
• Provide strategic guidance on project management processes, methodologies, and tools to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
• Oversee the end-to-end project portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Conduct regular portfolio assessments, prioritize projects based on strategic objectives, and allocate resources effectively.
• Identify, assess, and implement process improvements within the PMO to enhance project delivery and efficiency.
• Establish and enforce project management best practices, standards, and governance frameworks.
• Collaborate with department heads, project managers, and resource managers to optimize resource allocation across projects.
• Monitor resource utilization, forecast capacity, and implement strategies to enhance team performance.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment with project objectives.
• Provide regular and transparent project updates through various communication channels.
• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Establish a robust risk management framework and facilitate risk mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing PMO team by fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance on professional development opportunities and skills enhancement.
• Collaborate with finance and project managers to develop and manage the PMO budget.
• Monitor financial performance against budget, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to ensure project deliverables meet established standards and specifications.
• Conduct regular project audits to identify areas for improvement.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Proven experience 10 years in a senior project management or PMO leadership role within the IT sector.
• Demonstrated success in managing large and complex IT project portfolios.
• In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools.
• Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to PMs.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and establish goals for individual and team growth.

• Parking is included and to assist those that are using transit, we operate a complimentary shuttle bus Monday through Friday with various pick up and drop off points around North Vancouver.

The estimated salary for this position is $180,000 - $200,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
