WHERE YOU COME IN

We are looking for a Mass Marketing Intern to join our Brand & Integrated Marketing team at Make-A-Wish® Canada. Working with the Mass Marketing team and reporting to the Manager of Digital Marketing, this internship provides an opportunity to work closely with a team of marketing professionals in the nonprofit sector, gaining hands-on experience in mass and digital marketing.

This role is based out of our office in Toronto (North York).  This is a full-time summer internship at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and is on a hybrid model (2 days in office/3 days work from home office). WHAT YOU WILL DO

Donor Stewardship Audit & Development

  • Review and analyze existing materials in the journey to identify gaps, outdated information, or areas for improvement. Review emails, letters, videos, and other materials and verify that messages are clear, engaging, and up-to-date, and identify any gaps.
  • Provide recommendations for refreshing or enhancing stories to better align with donor interests and motivations.
  • Work with our Communications team to identify new stories/content to leverage for donor stewardship, including newsletters and key moments (Father's Day, Back to School, etc.)
  • Help design and build the Summer Supporter Survey in SurveyMonkey, ensuring the questions are clear, engaging, and easy to answer.
    • Collaborate with the team to refine the survey questions, ensuring they align with our organization's tone and goals.
    • Test the survey on both desktop and mobile devices to confirm functionality and clarity.
    • Assist in scheduling and distributing the survey to supporters through email or other channels.
    • Monitor survey responses, flag any issues, and provide insights to help improve donor engagement.

Donor Journey Audit & Development

  • Map out every stage of the donor experience (from first touch to long-term stewardship) to understand current pathways and identify opportunities to improve engagement.
  • Review how donors currently interact with our emails, website, and follow-up communications to pinpoint friction points or missing moments.
  • Analyze segmentation and timing to recommend a more thoughtful flow tailored to new donors, monthly donors, lapsed donors, and mid-level donors.
  • Identify opportunities to add personalization, emotional storytelling, and clearer value propositions throughout the journey.
  • Draft proposed touchpoints or journey enhancements that strengthen connection, motivation, and donor retention.
  • Create simple journey visuals or summaries that help internal teams understand how donors move through our ecosystem.
  • Gather insights from industry benchmarks and best practices to support recommendations for a more modern and donor-centric experience.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Education in marketing or a related field (or working towards).
  • Some related experience is preferred.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
