Reporting to the SVP, General Counsel of Sotera Health Company, Nordion is seeking an experienced and business-oriented lawyer to join its legal team. The ideal candidate will provide strategic legal advice and guidance on a wide range of corporate, commercial and business law matters and initiatives, both domestic and international.
Nordion, located in Ottawa, Canada, a business division of Sotera Health Company (NASDAQ: SHC), is seeking an experienced and business-oriented lawyer to join its legal team. Reporting to the SVP, General Counsel of Sotera Health Company, the ideal candidate will provide strategic legal advice and guidance on a wide range of corporate, commercial and business law matters and initiatives, both domestic and international.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on complex corporate transactions, contracts, and commercial agreements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations affecting the health sciences industry.
- Support mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships and infrastructure projects.
- Supervise external legal counsel and coordinate cross-functional projects.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks while supporting business initiatives.
- Oversee Nordion's intellectual property, patents and trademarks.
- Manage the legal budget and external legal counsel.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree and admission to the Law Society of Ontario.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant legal experience preferably in the health sciences or life sciences sector.
- Familiarity with other legal systems and jurisdictions (e.g., United States, European Union, United Kingdom) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial and relevant regulatory law.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Strong transactional and drafting skills.
- Proven ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice and solutions.
- Able to work independently in a highly transactional environment.
