Job Description:

The VP of Sales oversees the Mars Wrigley sales organization including relationships at the executive and c-suite with our retail partners. The VP of Sales will develop and deploy the MW Canada strategy through their team members & partner well with all internal functions This role is accountable for sales volume and deployment of the Operating Plan. The VP of Sales will be a critical member of the Canadian Leadership Team & is responsible for over 250 sales associates within Mars Wrigley. The role holder will need to work well internally, across borders to learn and share best practices, and also maintain strong insight into the marketplace by keeping up to date by actively participating in external forums (e.g., FHPC).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and implementation of the MW Canada customer strategy, driving strategic customer relationships across key partners, while leading and managing a large set of associates in Mars Wrigley.
  • Builds strategic customer plans that drive the confectionary/snacking category - Effectively anticipating and incorporating future consequences, trends and competitive landscape in to the vision of growth.
  • Owns the MW Canada trade spend budget, seeking to drive efficiencies and optimization.
  • Demonstrates leadership across functions and borders - partnering with key global leaders and cross functional partners to accelerate growth for Mars Wrigley, through customer partnership and activation.

Business Operations :
  • Ensures and actively tracks that all financial control procedures are followed (i.e. Account Trade Spending budget)
  • Ensures understanding and leads the deployment of the operating plan within the customer organization via development and application of best practices.
  • Executes with excellence to drive the MW and category growth through in store execution, customer partnership, and trade optimization.

Developing Reports:
  • Works with direct reports to develop their understanding and ownership of business segments plans, priorities and sales strategic objectives
  • Helps associates realize their capabilities by working with them on creating inspiring development plans, understanding their career goals and help them to network with the right people that can unlock career insights.
  • Supports development of Sales Leadership Team, and capability building across the entire sales organization.

Business Development:
  • Personally increase customer penetration through the development of relationships with key decision-makers at customers to create alignment with Mars Inc. objectives/strategies which enable Key Account Managers to achieve all business segment objectives.
  • Active participation in industry associations and conferences
  • Primary link with National Retail Manager for the deployment of retail of channel and customer strategies
  • Helps develop and deliver business segment sales strategies and initiatives to key customers by working with In-Market, Category Leadership and marketing
  • Provides input to enhance business segment operating plan objectives through participation in the S&OP
  • Ensures that company policies and sales work processes are followed
  • Continually improves sales coverage, productivity, reporting and selling cost.

Sales Forecasting:
  • Delivers sales volume, trade spend and sales strategic objectives by business and ensures linkage with other customers.
  • Partners with Supply Leadership Team to drive forecast accuracy to best serve customers.
  • Provides customer sales and trade forecasting by business segment.

People Leadership ,
  • Lead the Sales Leadership Team (SLT) of 4 sales directors.
  • Inspire, motivate, and engage the entire sales force, including customer management and retail associates.

Projects:
  • May be responsible for supporting all other sales productivity and or enterprise initiatives, as required

Other:
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Responsible for following all Quality and Food Safety Policies and applicable procedures.

Qualfications:

  • Business, Financial Mgt and Budget Mgt
  • University degree or college diploma in related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as Negotiation skills
  • High level of attention to detail

Deep understanding of Canadian Marketplace, customer dynamics, and category (must have Canadian Customer Experience). Strong & strategic relationships in the Canadian marketplace and with key customers (i.e. LBL, WM, Sobey's, etc.) Experience leading and inspiring large teams Experience managing senior level team Preferably experience being on a sr. level management team. Experience driving strategy & results through inspiring and motivating others.
