****Referral bonus premium $1,500.00**** The HSE & Security function sets Group-wide policies for health, safety, environment, security and crisis management which gives the fully accountable business their license to operate. It facilitates Group decision bodies and collaboration across the businesses, providing strategic guidance, governance and performance monitoring. The function also identifies and mitigates risks related to the corporate legal entity and is leading globally on security e.g., Crisis Management and Travel Risk Management. The HSE & Security function contributes to a vital competitive edge by supporting the business to capitalize on market opportunities, reduce risks and enabling business resilience for the benefit of our customers, employees and other stakeholders. This business partner role to the Business VP contributes to improving health, safety, sustainability and environment (HSSE) performance, helping the organization to deliver a high-performing culture through clear accountability and a skilled organization in the Motion business area in Canada.You will lead by example, applying your in-depth HSSE knowledge to provide solutions and advice to address a variety of issues. You will drive behavioral change through implementing the Group-wide system, training, and providing assistance from the Center of Expertise.

Your responsibilities

  • Empowering the management team to grasp obligations, liability and how to fulfil their roles according to HSE law and ABB Group policy, instructions and standards.
  • Coaches, supports, and advises the leadership and line managers on HSE matters, reporting the performances of their respective organization across the ABB value chain.
  • Creating and maintain an exemplary health and safety culture, as well as a strong focus on environment throughout Motion Canada.
  • Stay abreast of sustainability regulations and standards, ensuring ABB's compliance and positioning the company as a leader in sustainable practices.
  • Applies in-depth sustainability knowledge to coach and advise business leaders within the area of responsibility. Leads business-specific sustainability programs, as agreed.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce ABB's carbon footprint through energy efficiency programs, renewable energy adoption, and sustainable practices.
  • Engaging stakeholders to raise awareness of and win commitment to ABB Group sustainability objectives, and reporting on performance and progress.
  • Reporting and investigating HSE incidents, gathering feedback and communicating lessons learned and best practices. Facilitating HSE risk assessments, ensuring all processes and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Ensuring that the appropriate HSE equipment and tools are available and used, planning training for colleagues, and ensuring compliance with the Group management system.
  • Planning and executing HSE, sustainability and corporate responsibility projects, managing resources and reporting on objectives and progress.
  • Ensuring Motion Canada is audited according to the Group Assurance & Audit Program.

Your background
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in a similar position, with experience working in a multinational company.
  • Excellent knowledge of all applicable HSE laws, regulations and standards.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 standards, directives and specifications, OHSAS auditor's certification is an asset.
  • Professional certifications in safety (CRSP, CSP, CIH, etc.) are an asset.
  • Bilingualism is mandatory (French and English), as the role will require to support all of our Canadian employees.
  • Ability to help department leaders implement preventive and corrective measures efficiently and to intervene promptly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relations abilities.
  • Act as a change agent.
