POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Globe and Mail is looking for an experienced reporter to cover business in Western Canada, based in British Columbia.
British Columbia hosts a wide variety of vibrant industries, including energy, mining, forestry, agriculture, seafood, technology and tourism. We're seeking a reporter who can find news and feature opportunities of national interest in these sectors and others and bring stories to life with strong reporting and writing. The reporter will also work closely with others on the energy team to cover news and issues in Alberta, the heart of Canada's oil and gas industry.
The successful candidate will have experience covering business and a good understanding of corporate news and commodity markets, along with a proven ability to develop a strong network of sources and break news. You will be expected to regularly write a variety of stories on deadline with authority and context. The reporter will work collaboratively with Globe reporters and editors to ensure The Globe is ahead of other media for news, analysis and features concerning the most pressing developments and issues in Western Canada's business scene.

This position is based in the Vancouver office and requires a minimum of two days a week in office. Must be willing to travel to Alberta regularly. SALARY: This position is classified as a Reporter in Group C of the Editorial Collective Agreement.
