Job Description

The HR Support Specialist II will be the primary contact for employees for all HR administrative and operational activities, delivering an efficient, high quality and consistent service to employees. They will provide support through centralized communication channels while providing back office support to the HRBPs, Total Rewards and Talent Acquisition team.

Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.

What you'll do

  • Acts as a first line of HR support for unionized & non-unionized workforce in resolution of a wide variety of employee issues. Actively triaging, resolving, and/or escalating each item; remains online and available to answer employee inquiries and phone calls using call center technology according to the team's collectively-created support schedule
  • Support and complete various on HR programs & processes including onboarding, leave of absences, resignations, retirements, medical absence, benefits, learning & development and recognition
  • Perform transactional and data/records management activities in our HR systems (E1/Oracle HCM). Partners with payroll to ensure accurate processing of transactions
  • Initiate and complete onboarding process by taking appropriate steps in HRIS and generating required documents. Manage, track and assess onboarding process (communications, notifications, employment agreement)
  • Accountable for the maintenance of employee files. Generates standardized letters to support employee life cycle transactions (Employment Agreements, Promotions, Title Changes, etc.)
  • Participates in small to medium process improvement initiatives that require a basic working knowledge of project management

What you'll bring
  • Bachelor's degree or College diploma in Human Resources, Business or a related field
  • 2-4 years experience in administration or human resources
  • Proven customer service skills (working with ticketing system)
  • Ability to work well and collaborate in team environment
  • Critical thinking skills; able to identify customer concern points
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to handle complex and demanding situations tactfully when dealing with customers and assist other team members with problem resolutions
  • Highly organized with ability to prioritize duties during periods of high volume and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management skills (meeting SLAs)
  • Discretion to deal with personal and confidential information with sensitivity and tact
  • Adaptable to changing business practices
  • Understanding of a Shared Service function and Customer Service principles
  • Proficient digital literacy (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, One Note, JDE Edwards, Case Management system)
  • Strong results-oriented work ethic with a focused attention to detail and follow through to resolution

The estimated salary for this position is $67,500 - $82,500. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
