Job Description and Responsibilities

GenAlta has an immediate opening for a laborer for the Ferrous / Non-Ferrous material streams at our Edmonton location. The laborer will report to the Assistant Operations Manager. Hours of operation will be 6:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Additional overtime including weekends can also be scheduled in.

• Observe/Practice all company safety rules and policies

• Ability to multi task in a progressive environment

• Mechanically inclined

• Responsible for lubrication and general cleanup

• Work closely with loader operator while loading containers

• Work in the picker shack as well as the non-ferrous separation building

• Monitor flow of product from a raw material state through to the finished product

• Able to operate the Skid steer

• Able to use a torch for general cutting purposes

Requirements

• Previous work experience in a manufacturing, production, or similar scrap-yard/auto part environment will be considered an asset

• Able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting and pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day

• Able to communicate clearly

• Willing to assist / support with labor duties in other areas of the plant

• Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions

• Willingness to learn and work responsibly following all safety procedures

• A proven history of reliability

• Mentally alert to surroundings

• Good attention to detail and quality control

This is a unionized position with a 3 month probationary period.

The successful candidate will be asked to undergo a Fitness to Work & Alcohol & Drug test upon a conditional offer of employment being extended.
