Civeo Services Employees LP is recruiting for a result driven and customer service-oriented Safety Consultant. Reporting to the operations Manager, the incumbent will promote health, safety and well-being of workers and facilitate the development, implementation, and maintenance of workplace safety programs. Acting as a strong Safety professional and an effective liaison between multiple stakeholders within Civeo and outside customers, the incumbent will be a committed member of the team that supports the philosophy of continuous improvement, adaptable to changing roles within the role. The successful candidate will work a 15 days on & 13 days off rotation, which may include days, nights, weekend shifts and statutory holidays.

*Note: This is a salaried-term position for 3 months, with the possibility of extension or permanent employment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example, develop a strong working relationship and cohesiveness within the Civeo Safety team. Assist in communicating goals, providing direction, and setting priorities in the development and implementation Civeo's safety management system.
  • Drive a Making Zero Count mindset across all operations by collaborating with operational leaders to promote consistent focus on safety awareness and ensure that safety is designed into all new initiatives.
  • Maintain an ongoing understanding of site construction, strategic plans, and related safety trends.
  • Provide guidance to construction leadership in the development and implementation of both short and long-term strategies for achieving goals.
  • Be familiar with all applicable occupational health and safety requirements identified in legislation, the health and safety management system (HSMS) and relevant documentation.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external clients, support teams, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders that reflect and support Civeo's core values.
  • Assist the Safety Manager(s) and Operations Management with investigation of incidents and development of effective corrective actions.
  • Providing ongoing support during their completion and quality assurance during the approval process.
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement to the Civeo's Safety program.
  • Initiate ongoing communication regarding changes to existing safety policies and the implementation of new safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, analyze, and communicate safety reports and initiate relevant data driven recommendations.
  • Provide support through involvement in Health and Safety Committee meetings.
  • Conduct inspections of facilities and equipment.
  • Manage timely reporting to client as well as preparation of frequent safety reports for meetings on different management levels.
  • Provide support for the rollout of site Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and facilitate the ERP drills.
  • Work with Operations & Maintenance management and contractors on continuous evolvement of the site Risk Registry
  • Support tracking of HSE key performance indicators.
  • Provide safety training as required.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Positive attitude, personable and approachable; coworkers come to you as a source of information and advice.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills with ability to coordinate and set priorities to meet deadlines while dealing with conflicting demands and changing priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Windows and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and above average presentation skills.
  • Great problem-solving, organizational and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted and valued business partnerships that enable collaborative and decision-oriented working relationships.
  • Proven ability to interpret, evaluate and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to a wide variety of work situations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Ability to communicate in French is an assent.

Qualifications:
  • Relevant HSE degree, diploma, certificate, or professional safety designation, such as National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Construction Safety Officer (CSO).
  • 5+ years of previous related experience as a health and safety advisor in a unionized environment.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License, with a 5-year driving record satisfactory to Civeo's driving criteria
  • Must be able to pass a pre-access Drug & Alcohol test
