What does the General Manager do?

Reporting to the VP of Sales, the General Manager is responsible for leading the branch, establishing operating performance, setting goals, objectives and expectations, and successfully executing the company's Strategic Plan.  The General Manager is responsible for achieving the branch's sales targets and profit margins, working closely with the sales and support teams in order to coach them to a high standard of sales skill and product knowledge. The individual in this role is directly involved in bid/RFP strategy, overseeing key account renewals and negotiations, strategic price increases, and maintaining top level relationships with strategic customers.

More specific responsibilities:

  • Driving the sustainable, profitable growth of the branch (top and bottom line) in both the traditional core businesses and in new areas and geographies
  • Effectively develop and lead the Sales team  
  • Ensure the branch is able and equipped to perform at the highest possible levels by following the Company's policies, processes, disciplines and accountabilities
  • Ensure all Operating and Sales processes are fully and effectively implemented
  • Maintain the highest professional standards with respect to accounting, budgeting and cash flow
  • Ensure effective financial systems and reporting disciplines are followed
  • Ensure the Branch can benefit from the best talent it is able to attract and that Employee Engagement, Satisfaction and Capability are the focus
  • Frequent travel around the lower mainland, some travel to Swish branches in other provinces as required

What do you need?

  • Proven Sales and Business Development experience, preferably in a B2B or B2G environment
  • 3-5 years of experience managing the P&L of a growth-oriented business
  • Valid Driver's License and the appetite and ability to travel for work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively
  • Strong leadership ability to motivate, train and manage for results 
  • Ability to develop various market, sales, and customer growth strategies along with plans
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills 
  • Proven organization and multitasking skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple and changing priorities
