Job Description and Responsibilities

EVRAZ North America is seeking an Automation Specialist to join their team in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Automation Analyst will be responsible for supporting the development of data-driven tools to improve the performance, efficiency, and quality of the steel production process.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources in the steel production process
  • Collaborate with process engineers to understand process variables and identify areas for improvement
  • Develop software and data systems based on internal research models to improve process performance and efficiency
  • Create dashboards and reports that visualize key performance indicators and communicate insights to stakeholders
  • Work with the IT team to ensure data quality, security, and availability.
  • Continuously monitor and improve the performance of the systems supported
  • Modify and maintain vendor-supplied and in-house developed level 1 HMI systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in process automation
  • Strong software development and system design skills including documentation
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar
  • Knowledge of SQL and database management
  • Knowledge of HMI development software such as WinCC, GE iFix, or similar
  • Knowledge of steel mill operations and processes is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
