Job Description

Purpose

The Machine Operator - Press Room role operates a variety of metal forming and finishing equipment to support manufacturing output. This role performs set-ups, processing, and routine inspections while working in coordination with other team members. Additionally, this role supports EFCO's manufacturing operations by producing high-quality forms, components, and assemblies with precision and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Operate and Set Up Production Equipment (50%)

  • Able to perform basic setup and operation of some of the machinery in the department including punch presses, brake presses (hydraulic and mechanical), OBI press, saws, drill presses, radial arm drills, bulldozer, plate rollers, beveller, and additional equipment as assigned.
  • Ensure machines are properly calibrated, and parts meet required specifications.

Fabricate and Assemble Components (10%)

  • Prepare simple lay outs to drill forms and structural steel, stretch column forms.
  • Prepare parts according to blueprints and work orders.

Perform Quality and Documentation Tasks (15%)

  • Interpret blueprints accurately to validate part dimensions.
  • Complete labor entries in work orders and Kronos.
  • Participate in the Quality Audit process to maintain production standards.

Support Material Handling and Maintenance (15%)

  • Safely move parts and materials using material handling equipment and lifting attachments.
  • Conduct daily preventative maintenance on machines and maintain a clean work area.

Follow Safety and Environmental Standards (10%)

  • Adhere to all company safety procedures, environmental policies, and participate actively in training sessions and improvement initiatives.

Additional duties may be assigned as required by business necessity may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing to meet organizational goals and priorities.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Experience in metal fabrication and use of measuring tools preferred.
  • Other Requirements: Competent in using both metric and imperial measurement systems.
