Bachelor's degree in hydrogeology, environmental sciences, or geology (with hydrogeology courses).
Eligible for Engineer in training (E.I.T.)/Geologist in Training (G.I.T.) or professional designation (P.Eng./P.Geo.) in Alberta (AB) or British Columbia (BC).
2+ years of consulting experience in hydrogeology field work planning and execution including groundwater monitoring and sampling, hydraulic conductivity testing, groundwater data analysis, and reporting.
Understanding of hydrogeological processes in mining, oil & gas, and industrial context.
Strong analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel for managing large datasets, experience preparing tables/figures/maps, and a foundational understanding of hydrogeology (groundwater flow, aquifer types, basic hydraulic testing).
Familiarity with groundwater analysis software such as AQTESOLV or AquiferTest Pro.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to walk long distances and carry heavy field equipment in outdoor environments.
Willingness and ability to travel up 70%+.
Willingness to participate in extended field rotations, including up to 2+ weeks at remote mining or oil sands sites, often in variable climate conditions.
Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and good driving record with the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Preferred
3+ years of consulting experience in hydrogeology field work planning and execution including groundwater monitoring and sampling, hydraulic conductivity testing, groundwater data analysis, and reporting.
Familiarity with coding languages (e.g., Python, VBA, R) and experience with conceptual site model and numerical model development will be an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate groundwater investigation programs, including multi‑year monitoring networks, drilling campaigns, and well installation activities.
Supervise field teams and subcontractors, ensuring all activities comply with ERM's health and safety protocols, project requirements, and QA/QC standards.
Participate in extended field rotations, including up to 2+ weeks at remote mining or oil sands sites, often in variable climate conditions.
Participate in field programs that may require travel to remote locations by truck, All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), or helicopter, depending on site conditions and project needs.
Supervise field programs, including:
Monitoring groundwater levels using manual measurement methods and dataloggers;
Sampling groundwater for field parameter measurements and laboratory analysis;
Supervise drilling, installation and development of monitoring wells and pumping wells;
Borehole logging using the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) as appropriate for the project;
Programming, installing, downloading, and troubleshooting pressure transducers and vibrating wire piezometers (VWPs);
