The Role:
The Learning & Development Specialist supports the Corporate Education team in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality e-learning content and programming to foster employee growth and leadership development at PBS. This role plays a key part in elevating the employee learning experience by leveraging PBS Academy and additional educational tools and resources.
Between 30% and 50% of the time, the Learning & Development Specialist will be dedicated to facilitating virtual and in person training sessions. The remaining time is spent on instructional design and content development, researching and curating learning materials, and completing all the administrative tasks related to the assigned courses.
This position is based out of our Calgary head office. This is not a remote work opportunity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions as required both virtually and in person
- Prepare materials and complete all administrative tasks corresponding to the allocated training sessions
- Collaborate with the Team Lead Corporate Education to design, refine, and maintain approved course content within PBS Academy to support employee development across technical, professional, and leadership skills
- Identify and pursue opportunities across PBS departments to create or curate relevant learning content
- Conduct research to support course development and submit structured proposals for new content to the Team Lead Corporate Education
- Collaborate with PBS managers and stakeholders to assess and respond to training needs
- Document key processes within the Corporate Education department for internal reference and scalability
- Provide reporting and updates on training development progress to the Team Lead Corporate Education
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of PBS Academy content, delivery methods, and learner engagement strategies
- Collaborate with Team Lead Corporate Education and L&D Coaches to ensure course content alignment with facilitation strategy.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in instructional design, communications, adult education, or a related field is considered an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to confidently deliver engaging content to diverse audiences
- Experience in facilitating or delivering training sessions both virtually and in person
- Demonstrated research and content development capabilities
- Outstanding technical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning new digital tools
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Adaptable and proactive, with the ability to embrace variety, change, and innovation
- Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable working independently and collaboratively across teams
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders and around different personalities
