You will work alongside participants to help them grow, thrive, and reach their full potential. Your role will involve fully engaging in all aspects of the group living experience, offering both emotional and physical support while being a positive role model.

Qualifications:

Education and Professional Certification

  • Completion of a High school diploma.
  • A certificate, diploma, or degree in Child and Youth Care (CYC) or a related field is an asset.

Experience

  • At least one (1) year of experience working with children, youth, and/or adults with behavioral, cognitive, mental health, or developmental challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Services

  • Provide compassionate support to individuals with complex needs, fostering a safe and nurturing environment where they feel valued and supported.
  • Bring your creativity to life by helping develop and implement engaging activity plans that encourage participation.
  • Collaborate with clinical professionals and unit managers to share insights that will help guide treatment plans and goal setting.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, contributing your ideas and experiences to help improve the care we provide.
  • Teach essential life skills like self-care, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and building positive social connections.
  • Resolve conflicts with empathy and use behavior management strategies such as conflict resolution, crisis management, and life space interviewing to guide participants through challenges.
  • Complete documentation and reports with accuracy and clarity, ensuring all agency standards are met.
  • Perform other related duties as needed to support participants and the team.

Leadership:

  • Guide and support new employees, practicum students, and volunteers, as directed by the unit manager.
  • Lead by example, representing the agency's values and demonstrating fairness, respect, and positivity.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the multidisciplinary team when required.

Management of Resources:

  • Contribute to the operational budget and unit's capital plan.
  • Track and reconcile expenses, submitting receipts for approved expenditures.
  • Ensure agency vehicle logs are completed accurately when needed.
  • Take pride in maintaining and caring for assigned assets and resources, including buildings, vehicles, furnishings, and equipment.

Safety:

  • Prioritize, promote and reinforce safe work practices, creating a secure environment for both participants and staff.
  • Adhere to all agency and government regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure the well-being of everyone involved.

Additional Requirements:

  • The incumbent is responsible for completing all mandatory training requirements for the position as per agency policy and guidelines. 
  • Employees must hold a class five (5) novice two (2) or higher drivers license and be eligible for coverage under our commercial auto insurance policy.

Wage range: $24.09 to $31.15 per hour.
