INVISTA Canada's nylon manufacturing site located in Kingston, Ontario has 2 immediate openings for Certified (Heat & Frost) Insulation Mechanics to work as part of an amazing team in our fibre manufacturing plant. Come join this world-class operation where you will have the chance to work in a complex and ever-changing operation.
What You Will Do
- Demonstrate strong environmental, health and safety performance and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Fabrication installation and removal of both soft and hard insulating materials
- Fabrication (Including use of saws) of fully removable hard installation and all coverings (metal, plastic, painted, sewn etc.)
- An understanding of the importance of energy savings where heat loss is concerned
- A willingness to learn other techniques and technologies including sewing techniques for soft blanket insulation
- Flexibility in hours and willingness to work overtime on short notice
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Qualifications as a Certified (Heat & Frost) Insulator (Certificate of Qualification or equivalent)
- Knowledge of Insulation fundamentals (heat transfer and thermal conductivity)
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements
- Ability to select proper material size and types for temperature ratings, thickness for application
- Capability to fabricate removable/semi removable thermal insulation for fittings, piping and vessels
- Knowledge of shop equipment, hand tools, metal fabrication equipment (Pittsburgh machine, metal break, easy edger)
- Ability to perform sheet metal fabrication and finished metal work as required
- Asbestos awareness & safety
- Demonstrated ability to work in various environments both in-door and outdoors including work from heights
What Will Put You Ahead
- 2+ years experience working as an insulation mechanic
- Experience with 5S and Lean manufacturing concepts
- Proficiency with computers and technology, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word, as well as experience with enterprise systems such as SAP.
- Problem solving mindset, with an eye for continuous improvement of product and process.
