Presales Solution Consultant

The Presales Solution Consultant plays an instrumental role in the sales process through detailed discovery, product presentations and completion of request for proposal (RFP) requirements. This role is to act as a trusted advisor to the Sales team and to make them more efficient.
This position is budgeted for a base salary between $75,000-95,000/year based on experience.
Primary Functions:
Collaborates with Sales Team to identify and uncover prospect and customer business goals, needs and pains
Maps the prospect's business and technical needs to CityView's solutions and articulates those to prospective customer
Provides pre-sales technical expertise through Web and onsite product presentations, matching business and technical needs with CityView's solutions
Helps with the qualification of opportunities to understand who can help the sale, who can hinder the sale and who can provide relevant background information
Builds excellent knowledge of competing products and how to sell against them
Provides Research & Development with information gathered from the front line to always guide product development towards developing solutions to customers' business needs & challenges
Represents the product to customers and prospects at events such as conferences, lunch and learns, etc. Comprehensive customer-facing demos are a large part of this position.
Responds to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
Maintains product knowledge and keeps up to date on new functionality.
Maintains the sales demo database for own instance and sales reps instances.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of community development business processes in local governments. This will include familiarity with the planning and permitting business processes and related terminology. Familiarity with GIS systems is a bonus
2+ years of experience with CityView's or a competitor's software solution
Strong presentation skills – ability to establish credibility and build rapport in a room of customer employees from diverse roles, whether onsite or via web meeting.
Ability to meet tight deadlines – RFP and demo deadlines are generally immovable
Ability to present the benefits of a product, not just the features and to spin the presentation to meet the customer's needs.
Creative – presentations are won on making an impression that is positive, lasting and different
Strong written skills and significant attention to detail. Answering RFP technical & functional requirements accurately, requires detailed product & process knowledge and the devil is in the detail
Team oriented and egoless. You prefer using your superior product and process knowledge to compel prospects to solve their business challenges, rather than performing the day to day activities of sales reps
# Ability to Travel 50% of their time within Canada and US for customer meetings, conferences and tradeshows.
# Has a valid driver's license in Canada.
A degree, or similar qualification, in urban planning would be beneficial.
# Past experience of working with local government or handling a presales role making product demo to local government customers is preferred.
Knowledge of the Demo 2 Win methodology is a big plus.
