WHERE YOU COME IN

We are looking for a Wish Family Engagement Intern to join our Mission team at Make-A-Wish Canada. Working with the Wish Family Engagement team and reporting to the Director, Wish Experience and Family Engagement, this internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in program development within a national nonprofit organization.


This role is based out of our office in London.  This is a full-time summer internship at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and is on a hybrid model (2 days in office/3 days work from home office). The expected/ideal start date for the successful candidate is May 11th, 2026 with an end date of July 3rd, 2026. The hourly rate for this role is $17.60.
 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Wish Family Engagement Intern will assist in the development, execution, and maintenance of Make-A-Wish Canada's Wish Alumni program, providing a positive and meaningful experience for wish families throughout the wish journey, and beyond.

The Wish Family Engagement Intern will assist in relationship cultivation activities with the Wish Alumni Community, supporting teams in their efforts to provide meaningful engagement opportunities to all wish families. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in fulfilling ongoing engagement requests from internal stakeholders across the organization, in compliance with wish family and donor engagement policies.
  • Support the Mission Team by helping identify and track wish families suitable for ambassadorship.
  • Support the development and sourcing of content for a wish alumni newsletter and communication channels that welcome families to the next stage of their journey and highlight opportunities to stay connected, or give back through “wish it forward” initiatives.
  • Review post-wish surveys and regularly share insights with the development team regarding families who express interest in supporting future wishes through fundraising.
  • Maintain accurate and concise records of wish family engagement activities, interests, and key conversations.
  • Collaborate with Wish Family Engagement leadership to create new and exciting programming for the Wish Alumni Community.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Education in a related field (or working towards).
  • Current student or a recent graduate.
  • Some related experience is preferred.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong interest in nonprofit communications and brand management.
  • Innovative, creative, resourceful self-starter; you enjoy challenging yourself.
  • Must be between 18 and 30 years of age (Funding requirement).
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Funding requirement).
  • A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Hybrid work environment, requiring working in the office 2 days per week and working from a home office 3 days per week.
