Job Description

The NDT Coordinator, Data Management - 2-Year Limited Term is responsible for the upkeep of the different NDT databases and metrics during the build phase for the new construction vessel programs. This position involves managing NDT requests, updating databases, communicating with stakeholders, reviewing reports and ensuring the timely delivery of NDT reports. This position reports to the NDT supervisor.

Note: This position is a 2-Year Limited Term employment opportunity including extended health benefits and 3-weeks' vacation. Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What you'll do

  • Receives, reviews, and processes NDT requests/reports, assigning tasks to NDT technicians and updating internal databases/working sheets.
  • Follows up with NDT requesters and technicians to track progress and ensure completion of jobs in a timely manner to support production schedule.
  • Assists in implementing new databases and metrics for each vessel as required.
  • Reviews all NDT documents for accuracy and completeness, taking necessary actions for revisions or updates.
  • Communicates with NDT technicians, production, service, NDT requester and NDT service providers to address any findings in NDT-related documents or any issue with the NDT jobs.
  • Provides weekly reports to NDT supervisor on outstanding jobs, progress, and completion for different projects.
  • Rectifies deficiencies resulting from non-acceptance of NDT requests or reports, tracking resolution.
  • Assists in maintaining the NDT delivery schedule and implementing key performance metrics.
  • Develops document templates or new processes for the NDT department as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Some OT is expected.

What you'll bring
  • Minimum 3 years of steel structure manufacturing or quality control experience and 2 years of administrative experience.
  • Familiarity and good knowledge of NDT is required. CGSB MT2 and/or CWB VT1 certifications highly desired.
  • Bachelor's degree or certificate in a relevant subject like weld technologist, is an asset.
  • High organizational and administrative skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills, including problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office products (High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required).
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and be persistent.
  • Ability to obtain reliability clearance.

The estimated salary for this position is $72,000 - $88,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
