WHERE YOU COME IN

We are looking for a Community Partnerships Intern to join our Community Partnerships team in Nova Scotia at Make-A-Wish® Canada. We are looking for a driven and creative student who enjoys collaboration, relationship building, and has fresh ideas! Working with the Community Partnerships team and reporting to the Manager, Community Partnerships, you will gain valuable, real-world fundraising experience as well as provide the team with event management support for signature and community events.

This role is based out of our office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.  This is a full-time summer internship at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and is on a hybrid model (2 days in office/3 days work from home office). The expected/ideal start date for the successful candidate is May 11th, 2026, with an end date of July 3rd, 2026. The hourly rate for this role is $16.75.

WHAT YOU WILL DO  

  • Provide event management support for signature and community fundraising events.
  • Develop outreach communications and collateral to connect with our supporters, including donors, corporate sponsors, event fundraisers, and volunteers.
  • Prospect research to identify new corporate partnership opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop customized stewardship touchpoints.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Foundation, specifically when communicating with donors and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Education/Certificate in Business/Marketing, Fundraising, or relevant field (or working towards).
  • Experience in event management or the non-for-profit sector preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and complete projects to completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to exercise sound judgment when communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must be between 18 and 30 years of age (Funding requirement).
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Funding requirement).
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Hybrid work environment, requiring working in the office 2 days per week and working from a home office 3 days per week.

 

Physical/Mental Effort

  • Work with multiple demands and changing/overlapping priorities.
