This role is Onsite Ottawa Ontario.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Contracts, the Contracts Manager ensures the applicability of contractual commitments, identifies financial and contractual risks, and participates in the negotiation of contractual clauses.
 

During the project phase, the Contracts Manager supports the Project Manager, guarantees strict compliance with contractual commitments through to their completion, reports on potential issues, proposes actions to minimize risks, looks for opportunities and, when necessary, compiles pre-litigation documents

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Draft, structure, implement and manage contractual documents based on internal processes in order to establish and maintain a good business relationships with customers; Participate in the preparation of bids and proposals packages following internal processes, from bid-no-bid decision to contract implementation and management; Participate in the negotiation of price, delivery, and terms and conditions with customers.
  • Prepare contractual memos for internal gate approval processes; Interpret and communicate the extent of applicability of various contractual provisions to internal project execution teams.
  • Liaise with Procurement, Finance and other departments to ensure the adequate flow-down of prime contract terms and conditions to suppliers and subcontractors; Establish and maintain solid working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Report on risks, issues, successes and failures to the Legal and Contracts Director, and through internal cyclical reviews; Monitor risks, escalate issues and propose action plans or solutions.
  • Implement and promote best practices and compliance policies in accordance with Thales Group guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of experience working in business support function, including but not limited to Procurement, Legal, Finance, Contracts Management, etc. Experience managing or supporting large-scale complex contracts, with working knowledge of government procurement policies and procedures.
  • University Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize contractual and commercial risks and issues and an ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Experience managing Defence Contracts under the Defence Production Act and Government of Canada procurement processes.

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week.
  • Physical Environment: Office environment.
  • Travel: As required.
