Job Description and Responsibilities

Canadian Purchasing is responsible for organizing, directing, and controlling procurement of all goods and services throughout the Canadian operations. This includes the supervising and mentoring of personnel in meeting the corporate objectives, as they apply but not limited to Procurement Policies & Procedures compliance, Strategic Purchasing Initiatives (SPI), plant productivity and achievement of cost reduction targets.

  • Develop corporate strategies

  • Negotiate contracts for major commodities and services

  • Participate in Strategic Purchasing Initiatives (SPI)

  • Direct and oversee purchasing related activities and functions

  • Supervise, coordinate, and direct the work of the purchasing staff

  • Negotiate contracts for capital and construction projects

  • Execute the corporate purchasing strategy as it relates to the tubular & steel operations

  • Support and promote continuous improvement in the growth of the purchasing personnel and departments

Requirements

  • Business degree or Certificate

  • Professional Purchasing Designation (CPP, CPSM, APICS certification of equivalent)

  • 5-10 years Senior/Management Purchasing experience in a multi-plant environment and experience with construction contracts.  Equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable

  • Experience setting terms with suppliers as well as drafting and reviewing contracts

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

  • Proficient with ERP applications (Oracle preferred)

  • Knowledge of tubular & steel processes and products
