The Electrical Maintenance Associate is responsible for the efficient, safe, and reliable operating condition of complex process and high-speed food processing equipment. This candidate must be multi-crafted (electrical/mechanical) and mainly focused on providing equipment troubleshooting and breakdown maintenance. As troubleshooting requirements are accomplished, the Electrical Maintenance Associate will change focus toward preventive maintenance activities as assigned through planned work orders. They must systematically repair, adjust and maintain processing, filling, conveying, packaging machinery and monitor utilities such as Biofilters, Boiler, Air Compressors, and Wastewater treatment plant as assigned using established maintenance reliability practices, consistent observation, repair, and follow-up of operational effectiveness

What are we looking for?

  • Journeyman Electrician: Minimum 2 years' experience
  • Industrial 442A or Construction 309A License
  • Proof of completion of Ontario Apprenticeship
  • PLC Troubleshooting experience
  • Familiar with and able to read electrical schematics.
  • Have strong organizational skills, detail oriented and able to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Be able to work quickly under pressure and have a sense of urgency.
  • Must be able to work continental shifts.
  • Must be willing to work overtime.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Conduct planned preventive & predictive maintenance and keep maintenance records.
  • Actively participate in preventive maintenance program on building equipment processing equipment daily.
  • Assist in planning, organizing of work activities (drawing interpretation, parts preparation)
  • Ability to receive forklift and propane handling certification is required.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and code specifications to determine lay-out of industrial equipment and installations.
  • Provide predictive maintenance on electrical panels, devices, motor brushes, thermal imaging, motor loading etc.
  • Assist in establishing procedures, instructions, planning & executing preventative/predictive maintenance throughout the plant.
  • Help maintain inventory control of parts and equipment
  • Provide general support to maintenance and operation.
  • Provide expertise in troubleshooting and repairing equipment malfunctions to quickly resolve issues and reduce downtime.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix PLC.
  • Experience using VFD controllers.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision when required.
  • Proof of Electrician Apprenticeship and/or provincial certification (309A or 442A).
  • Understanding of AC and DC frequency drives would be as asset.
  • Working knowledge of PLC's (Allen Bradley) would be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be competent familiar with the necessary Legislated Codes.
  • Demonstrated Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written & verbal.
  • Work as a Team Member in all situations.
  • Understand and use of electrical/electronic theories and calculations as well as mechanical principles (i.e., gearing, leverages, tolerances, and a variety of materials).
  • Understanding of Ontario Electrical Code and CSA Standards.
  • Understanding of PLCs, pneumatics and hydraulic.
