Job Description

Key Accountabilities

Defence Relationship Development & Account Leadership

• Establish and build relationships across key DND and CAF stakeholders

• Develop a structured engagement plan targeting priority organizations, including corporate services, member services, materials and logistics, information technology.

• Support and evolve a long-term Defence account strategy

• Position Maximus as a credible, mission-aligned partner

Executive Engagement & Capability Positioning

• Lead and support 1:1 capability briefings with senior defence stakeholders

• Translate Maximus capabilities into relevant defence use cases

• Develop relationships with ADM, DG, and Director-level stakeholders

• Maintain awareness of defence priorities, policies, and funding programs

• Represent Maximus in formal and informal engagement settings

Partner Ecosystem Development

• Identify and build prioritized relationships with defence primes, SMEs, and ecosystem partners

• Support teaming strategies for future opportunities

• Maintain active engagement with key industry players

• Align partner capabilities with Maximus strengths

Industry Presence & Market Engagement

• Represent Maximus at DND / CAF Industry Days and defence-related events

• Maintain visibility within the Canadian defence community

• Build credibility through consistent participation and engagement

• Track and report on key signals, trends, and opportunities emerging from the market

Pipeline Development & Opportunity Shaping

• Identify and track early-stage opportunities aligned to defence priorities

• Build and maintain a defence opportunity pipeline

• Support shaping of opportunities prior to formal procurement

• Collaborate with Growth and Proposal teams to position Maximus effectively

• Contribute to win themes, partner strategies, and solution positioning

Internal Leadership & Coordination

• Work closely with internal SMEs across:

o Citizen services

o Health services

o Digital and technology consulting

• Translate defence needs into internal opportunity framing

• Provide market intelligence and feedback to leadership

• Support development of defence-specific offerings and messaging

Job Requirements

• Commissioned officer experience in the Canadian Armed Forces (required or strongly preferred)

• 8-15+ years of experience in defence, or related sectors

• Experience working within or alongside DND / CAF organizations

• Demonstrated understanding of defence structure, procurement, and stakeholder landscape

• Experience in relationship management, program leadership, or business development

• Experience engaging senior stakeholders (Director to ADM level)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Defence Domain Knowledge

• Deep understanding of CAF structure, operations, and culture

• Familiarity with DND governance, procurement, and program lifecycle

• Awareness of key defence priorities

Relationship & Influence

• Strong credibility within the defence community

• Ability to build trust quickly with senior stakeholders

• Skilled at navigating complex organizational structures

Strategic & Commercial

• Ability to identify and shape early-stage opportunities

• Understanding of partner-based delivery models

• Awareness of defence procurement processes and timelines

Communication

• Strong executive communication and briefing skills

• Ability to translate capabilities into mission-relevant outcomes

• Comfortable presenting to senior military and civilian leadership

Other Requirements

Must be able to obtain and maintain:

• Must be eligible for Government of Canada security clearance

• Ottawa-based preferred; travel within Canada required

• Regular attendance at industry and defence engagement events

• Ability to operate within both military and civilian environments
