Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Full Stack Developer applies advanced full-stack software development expertise across the entire application lifecycle to design, build, and optimize high-performance, cloud-native SaaS solutions.

Acting as a key technical engine within the Product team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to translate strategic product vision into secure, scalable, and resilient technical solutions, while providing technical guidance and peer mentorship to the broader development team.

In this role, you will champion a product-centric engineering culture by seamlessly blending technical rigor, high-velocity development standards and agile delivery to create features that maximize customer value.

Your Typical Week at Maximus

• Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, and implement full-stack web applications, high-performance microservices, and system interfaces, ensuring alignment between frontend components, backend architectures and defined architectural standards.

• Engineering Excellence: Actively champion, enforce and contribute to high-velocity development standards including rigorous code reviews, automated testing, consistent CI/CD practices, software design patterns and development methodologies.

• Technical Leadership: Act as a core technical engine within cross-functional squads building cloud-native, microservices-based applications. Provide technical guidance to developers as required to remove roadblocks, ensure requirements are met, and technical standards are adhered to.

• Infrastructure & Security: Develop, deploy and maintain automated deployment pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), ensuring application-level security-by-design and system stability.

• Observability: Integrate comprehensive telemetry, logging, and monitoring frameworks to support proactive system health management and rapid incident response.

• AI Integration & Innovation: Build and integrate AI-driven tools and LLM integrations to enhance application functionality, automate internal workflows, and accelerate developer productivity.

• Mentorship & Growth: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and operational rigor.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to define project scope, technical requirements, and implementation timelines.

• Solution & Requirements Design: Analyze system requirements, research industry best practices, and evaluate technical options to recommend cost-effective, scalable solutions.

Translate complex business and implementation requirements into clean technical specifications for development teams.

What you offer us

Experience & Technical Expertise

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.

• 3+ years of full-stack experience building modern, microservices-based web applications.

• Frontend Experience: Experience building web applications using React, TypeScript, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS. Proficient with Storybook, Vitest, or similar technologies for documentation and testing.

• Backend Experience: Experience building high-performance microservices using Python (FastAPI). Experience with service orchestration and distributed caching/state management using Dapr, Redis, or similar technologies. Proficient in Pytest or similar frameworks for unit testing.

• Cloud & Infrastructure Leadership: Hands-on experience managing Microsoft Azure environments using Docker/Containers, Terraform for Infrastructure as Code, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD.

Engineering Leadership & Culture

• Strategic Execution & Autonomy: Ability to plan and execute complex technical responsibilities with minimal direction while maintaining composure and delivery standards under deadline pressure.

• Customer & Product Advocacy: A deep-seated customer-focus mindset with the ability to translate how technical innovations and architectural decisions directly enhance the product experience.

• Operational Rigor: Drives a high-standard engineering culture rooted in Agile methodologies and technical excellence through automated testing and continuous improvement.

• Collaborative Leadership: A highly motivated team player with excellent collaboration skills, capable of fostering initiative and high performance within diverse engineering environments.

Nice to Have

• Healthcare Domain & Systems: Knowledge of health-tech ecosystems, including familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EMR), clinical workflows, and data exchange standards.

• Medical Data Standards: Hands-on experience working with healthcare data interoperability protocols and frameworks, specifically FHIR R4, HL7, or DICOM.

• Public Health Care: Knowledge of health insurance structures, public health program lifecycles, and the workflows governing public program enrolment, eligibility, and claims processing.

• Compliance & Security: Understanding of medical system compliance and data privacy regulations, including HIPAA, PIPEDA, or SOC2 frameworks within a digital health environment.
