Job Description

The incumbent is accountable for supervising and planning department maintenance, and repair and installation of production machinery and equipment. They will assist scheduling weekend/down day maintenance work, and maintains an up to date log of work that needs to be accomplished.

The Maintenance Planner interacts with operation department supervisors concerning breakdowns and maintenance scheduling, advises the Materials department about availability and delivery of parts and supplies, Engineering Department involving major problems and equipment design revisions, and contractors involving maintenance projects. He/she guides and assists employees in determining the best method of repairing and maintaining plant equipment.

The effectiveness of the position is measured by the timely and cost-effective maintenance of machinery and equipment to minimize production interruptions and increase production efficiencies.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Supervise, schedule, and coordinate personnel requirements for department

maintenance and equipment repairs to reduce equipment downtime, minimize

cost, and contribute to production efficiencies with the interaction of Department

Manager.

  • Ensure satisfaction of internal customers.
  • Identify and implement improvements to equipment.
    • Determine root cause of equipment failures and implement solutions to
    • eliminate repetitive downtime.
  • Continually evaluate effectiveness of PM's. Update PM's as needed.
  • Train maintenance employees as needed.
    • Determine spare parts needs and requisition necessary parts to meet these
    • needs with the input from Maintenance Planners.
    • Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards
    • Perform other duties as required.

  • DESIRED EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

    1. Ideally a "Red Seal" Electrician or Millwright, or at least have a strong mechanical

    or electrical background.

    2. Formal education preferably in the mechanical area. Must be able to work all

    schedules as required, cross-train as required, and be able to display proficiency

    in the technical aspects of the area assigned.

    3. Satisfactory computer skills including all Microsoft programs.

    4. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

    5. Proven abilities with problem solving and dealing with high pressure situations.

    6. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage

    multiple tasks, prioritize work, and exercise initiative to ensure high quality
