The Director of Customer Excellence champions overall growth agenda of Mars Petcare within Key Customers through Best in Class execution of strategy. They are the voice of sales & advocate of the customer, utilizing deep expertise in the category across various customers and channels, representing the sales function as the key stakeholder with internal cross functional teams to ensure flawless execution of our strategy in every venue that Pet Parents are engaging with our products.
This role is responsible for the translation of business strategies, priorities and objectives into perfect planning & execution of sales fundamentals within the Canadian retail landscape. They lead everything influencing the in-store and omni execution of our brands within our customers as well as instore through the Retail Sales force.
Accountable for the executional excellence of our Key Account & Retail teams, this role ultimately enables the Sales function to deliver category-leading growth. It is also in charge of managing the entire sales planning process, collaborating with the sales team, marketing, SRM, finance, Retail Sales, S&Op, Demand Planning, and Supply.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelors degree required, preferably a BA/BS in Marketing/Sales or Business Administration (MBA or other graduate degree is an asset).
- Minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience in a top CPG company at a Director level, having to influence senior stakeholders across multiple groups in Canada.
- Major Customer Management Experience (Example: Walmart, LCL, Sobeys, etc).
- CPG experience is required.
What will be your key responsibilities?Link between customer and brand, with responsibilities/required knowledge to include:
- Deep understanding of key customer operating model and strategy, combined with Brand Long-Term Strategy to ensure Best in Class Sales Planning & Execution of our growth pillars.
- Ownership of all executional levers within Sales: Display, Promotional execution, planogram & perfect store, pricing strategy execution, flyer, distribution, and trade spend.
- Work with brand teams to align brand strategy, positioning and key initiatives with category growth drivers, shopper based design and perfect store/perfect digital store.
- Operationalize the SCM model for long term execution of Customer growth strategy.
- Lead development & deployment of tactical toolkits to field for annual business planning.
- Work with Customer Directors / Teams to create account specific customized portfolio plans.
- Sales lead & Step 2 facilitator S&OP+ inputs Demand Management Review & Feeder.
- Collaborate with SRM on development and deployment of best practices, i.e. pricing and trade spending execution against strategy -everyday pricing, minimum merchandising pricing, maximum spend rates and annual trade architecture adjustments.
- Collaborate with Insights/Data/Analytics organization on development and deployment of data, analytics, and visualization products supporting the customer strategies through JBP and otherwise.
