Job Description and Responsibilities
The role of the Reliability Engineer - Co-op Student is to support the identification and assessment of risks that may adversely affect plant or business operations. Working under the guidance of the Reliability Engineering Manager, the student will support the development and execution of reliability and asset management initiatives aimed at improving equipment performance, reducing unplanned downtime, and lowering total cost of ownership. The role provides hands-on exposure to industrial reliability engineering practices while contributing meaningful improvements to plant operations. The student will be assigned defined reliability projects with clear deliverables and receive technical mentorship and supervision throughout the work term.

Assist in the development and continuous improvement of asset management strategies, including risk identification, operating standards, and maintenance strategies.
Assist with CMMS (Oracle eAM) data management including asset hierarchies, BOM creation, PM program and maintenance history under supervision.
Assist reliability engineers and maintenance personnel in troubleshooting equipment issues and develop solutions to repetitive failures impacting plant operations.
Support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on unplanned downtime events, track corrective actions, and support verification of effectiveness.
Participate in condition-based monitoring (CBM) activities where applicable (fluid analysis and vibration analysis).
Identify and document opportunities for reliability improvement and cost reduction, including extended component life, maintenance optimization and material improvements.
Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, and Project teams to support reliability and maintainability of new and modified equipment
Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Engineering
Previous engineering co-op, summer student or project experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is an asset.
Exposure to, or foundational knowledge of condition-based monitoring (CBM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) through coursework, labs or work experience is considered an asset.
Familiarity with CMMS systems (Oracle eAM 12.2 preferred, SAP, etc.) is considered an asset.
Ability to read and interpret basic P&ID drawings (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, etc.)
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Project, and PowerPoint)
Proven teamwork, demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with attention to detail in the administration of projects
