Responsible for directing the safe and efficient operations of all Corix subsidiaries in assigned Business Unit (BU). Oversees all areas of water, and wastewater operations and/or Energy operations. Provides oversight, guidance and leadership to the BU operations staff.Who we are

The Corix team has an opportunity for a Regional Director of Operations based in Calgary, AB. Responsible for directing the safe and efficient operations of all Utilities, Inc. Corix subsidiaries in assigned Business Unit (BU). Oversees all areas of water, and wastewater operations and/or Energy operations. Provides oversight, guidance and leadership to the BU operations staff.

What you'll do

  • Lead and provide direction to the BU's operations staff in the performance of their duties, establishing work priorities to achieve management strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient utilization of resources with an emphasis on safety, cost control, operational excellence reliability and regulatory compliance with regulations.
  • Lead operations team to be in compliance with all applicable local, state/provincial and federal regulations.
  • Assist in developing and executing the approved Operations operating budget which includes O&M, administrative and capital expenditures as well as the Capital improvement budget
  • Responsible for the system asset management plan.
  • Works cooperatively with the Customer Experience Team to analyze and ensure follow-up to all customer service issues.
  • Develop and inspire a strong commitment to employee safety, recognition and business development.
  • Responsible for training, succession planning and the development of leadership within the Operations staff to ensure the operations area is prepared for future growth
  • Recruit, retain, manage and provide leadership for operations staff.
  • Drive EBITDA by effectively challenging and motivating employees to focus on efficient execution of day to day operations and continuous improvement concepts.
  • Independent travel between worksites as required.\\
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with community.
  • Remain up to date on new and revised regulations that may impact the company.
  • Oversee the maintenance of facilities, company vehicles, tools and equipment as per industry standards to ensure they are in good operating condition.
  • Support regulatory rate filings, testimony generation, and serves as a witness in rate cases.
  • Aid in business development opportunities
  • Develop familiarity with other regulated industries

What you bring

Experience
  • Minimum 9 years' experience with water and/or wastewater and/or Energy operations utility management with increasing levels of responsibility. Knowledge of all local, state and federal tariffs, regulations and laws pertaining to the assigned Business Unit.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree or a combination or related experience and education
  • Valid Driver's Liscense

Nice to Have
  • Master's Business Administration
  • Evidence of having obtained certification in plant or system operations in one or more province

  • Ability to read and comprehend maps, plans and surveys.
  • Familiarity with computer applications MS Word, Excel and utilizing tablet and mobile device; ability to learn internal software programs Ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
