Job Description and Responsibilities

At EVRAZ quality is second only to safety.  We currently have an opening at our Regina Mill for a dynamic leader with a proven track record as an Area Supervisor. In this challenging role you will be responsible for scheduling, providing direction, coordinating, training, and leading your crew to achieve or exceed planned safety, production, quality, and recovery targets while minimizing costs and labour relations issues.

  • Coordinate and direct production activities
  • Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance with the Maintenance department
  • Supervision of unionized employees, which includes: communication of job expectations, planning,   training, coaching/counseling, performance and attendance management, and issuing discipline
  • Enforce systems, policies, and procedures as they pertain to the safety, quality, and environmental footprint of operations
  • Responsible for utilizing a hands-on approach to effectively address technical and non-technical issues related to production, by recognizing potential problems and making critical decisions independently
  • Enforce safety processes, procedures, and protocol to ensure a safe work environment
  • Assist the safety team in safety investigations
  • Organize and oversee emergency evacuations
  • Perform administrative activities such as scheduling (overtime, vacations, organizing the workforce as a result of absenteeism, layoffs, etc.), input employees' time into the Kronos system, complete reports, conduct safety tool box talks, Gemba walks, performance/ progress reports, compile data and various reports as required
  • Manage change, communicate effectively, and lead high-performance teams
  • Demonstrate EVRAZ Core Values to employees, contractors, vendors, and colleagues
  • Create value for customers as a world-class supplier of innovative steel products by ensuring high quality while maintaining cost effectiveness

Requirements

  • A minimum 2 years' experience in an industrial environment or minimum 4 years' experience in an industrial environment or operating steel/pipe facilities 
  • Understanding and knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience in steel manufacturing
  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations and safety standards
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Must have strong leadership and communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred
