Who is the ideal candidate?

You are a highly responsible, organized & multi-tasking manager working in a fast-paced environment overseeing the resource and technology plan to ensure the Business Applications, its servers, and environments are operational as per the established / emerging standards.  You swiftly grasp technical requirements and analyze all application needs including security, networking, software & hardware, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, etc. driven by new or existing projects

You are expected to have strong technical as well as good communication and interpersonal skills. Apart from the normal business hours, you will be required to manage / support / perform activities that are outside of normal business hours including weekdays, weekends and holidays.

What will you be doing?

The Manager Support will work closely with the Manager Development – Business Applications and ensure their respective teams coordinate the support and development activities and responsibilities to provide stable, secure and guaranteed-transactable applications for the Teknion / Partner business users. This is to be based on the direction as set by the Director of the department, team and Corporate Objectives.

  • Operational Readiness
    • Work in partnership with the business and technology running the application environments (Production, UAT, QA, Development), providing quick resolutions to  their issues while driving stability and efficiency
    • Drive technical decision making, with deep understanding of architecture guidelines and challenge where required
    • Security Compliance & Governance
    • Accessibility Compliance & Governance
    • Share in the 'on call' rotation schedule for 7x24 support activities
    • Define and drive automation of processes, application heath checks, monitoring, reporting, including improvement of operational processes
    • Coordinate and manage Change, Incident, and Problem management and all other activities  between internal and external stakeholders
    • Coordinate, manage and execute server and workstation OS and Application approved patching  and related activities
    • Understanding of business, network, and IT strategies and provide support accordingly
  • Support
    • Provide efficient day-to-day level 2 and level 3 support; Triage, prioritize and resolve production support incidents while driving teams to investigate production issue root cause, provide quick tactical workaround and preventive solutions
    • Escalate tactical resolutions to the Development team for a strategic resolution
    • Raise and manage development tickets in JIRA arising out of support
    • Provide proactive and preventative maintenance to reduce / eliminate the risk of system failures
  • Development
    • Manage application changes. To review and apply code packages to the UAT / Production environments, co-coordinating deployments and facilitating post implementation verifications
    • Extend awareness of risks associated with application development potential impacts, incorporating risk planning and mitigation.
    • Architecture
      • Digital Commerce & Services in existing and new solutions
      • Data Platforms – for proactive data consumption
      • Enforcement of Data Privacy and Laws (E.g. GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
      • Enforcement of Accessibility Compliance (W3C WCAG 2.0 and AODA)
      • Development & support of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in existing and new solutions
      • Work with the Director and other IT stakeholders to assess technical architectures & frameworks required to meet project & production requirements and to ensure technical solutions are aligned with Teknion's Corporate Technology Short, Mid and Long-term Plans.
      • The Manager will be responsible for the approval of all Project & Production Frameworks and Designs. In some cases, jointly approved with the Director.  
    • Management
      • Manage licensing of all software – cloud, on-premise and subscription
      • Assist the Director in the budgeting process
      • Manage day-to-day personnel detail such as Vacations, Overtime hours, etc 

    What skills, experience and education are we looking for?

    • University degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline with more than 5 years' experience from an established & recognized institution
    • Ability to effectively manage support, project and vendor teams; strong interpersonal and oral communication skills; have a Data-driven mentality
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks & have a strong customer service orientation. Flexible and adaptable to time-sensitive situations.
    • Experience in various Business Functional vertical 

    Technologies:

    • Knowledge and experience in DevOps practices, tools, and microservices such as JIRA, GitHub, Jenkins
    • Application development including an understanding of the SDLC and Agile methodology and project management experience, with successful delivery
    • Experience working with multiple development methodologies. Proven experience in project and application delivery, DevOps experience preferred leveraging CI/CD 
    • Strong knowledge of current web concepts, web standards, e-commerce platforms
