Amsted Canada has established a new Business Center in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.  We are elevating our Global Technology teams in several areas including but not limited to Security, Development, Infrastructure, Emerging Technology, SAP, and Engineering.  These teams are instrumental in providing support to all Amsted affiliate locations worldwide.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Product Development Drafter for Amsted Seals.  Born out of innovation within Amsted Rail, the Amsted's Seals business was created to maximize and scale the disruptive spin-forming technology across high-impact applications within Amsted Industries and with external customers.  Through direct sales and partnership programs, this global business will continue to expand its service offering into new industry applications.  Combined with the expertise and design foundation of Amsted's long-standing seal businesses, it creates a rare combination of value and performance.  As part of this new business, you will be an important partner in shaping the business's continued growth and development as a strategic growth business for Amsted.

Position Details
In this position, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining models and drawings for new and current products as well as engineering change requests. This position will assist product engineers in completing design calculations and updating CAD data as needed; including product specifications, material specification, prints and inspection plans. The drafter works closely with the Product and/or Process Engineering teams to manage product data management, ERP, and other engineering systems.

What you will do:
  • Provide drafting support as required by engineering and production
  • Develop new drawings or revise existing drawings as necessary to meet the needs of customers, improve efficiencies and reduce waste
  • Provide drafting support for the continuous improvement of existing product
  • Create, maintain, and/or verify accuracy of engineering documentation and ERP data for all products
  • Maintain open and effective communications with management, related engineering departments, manufacturing departments, vendors and customers.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Personal Computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point

Education and Experience:
  • 2 Year College Degree; and/or
  • 3-5  years of practical drafting or design experience
This position is being filled in our Charlottetown office and is not available for remote work at this time.
