Position Summary
Thales Canada, Defense & Security is engaged in supporting the Canadian Army's Land Command, Control, Communications & Computers (C4) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LC4ISR) systems which enable critical decisions daily. Together with industry partners, Thales is building on the existing networks and applications to enhance digitized operations, support communications between joint and allied forces, and monitor and defend against the threats and evolving capabilities of potential adversaries.
Thales Canada is looking for people interested in directly contributing to the evolution of advanced digitized operations for the Canadian Army into the future, both in Canada and on overseas deployments. The LC4ISR work is broadly divided into four areas, and this opportunity is with the Collaboration and System Administration (CaSA) group at our Ottawa office. We are looking for an Intermediate Systems Administrator to support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of core Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software applications as part of an agile team. This work includes operating systems, management of virtual environments, basic networking, documenting configuration of a system, software library frameworks, file sharing, file viewing, and web-based applications.

Key Areas of Responsibility
• VMWare Virtual Environment
• Installing and configuring servers;
• Installing and configuring software;
• Troubleshooting server and software issues and providing resolutions;
• Documenting configuration of the system;
• Answering technical questions regarding servers and software;
• Understanding of user accounts and password management;
• Understanding of system infrastructure concepts (servers, databases, services, OS, security);
• Management of virtual environments; and
• Understanding of basic networking (subnetting).
Basic Qualifications
• Windows Administration (Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Windows Permissions/Grouping, GPOs, AntiVirus, Sharepoint)
• Microsoft Visual C++
• University or college degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• 4-6 years of professional experience in the design and integration of complex systems in commercial and/or military domains.
• Proven problem solving and analytic skills with a desire to learn;
• Proven organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
• Capable of developing strong relationships across the business through excellent customer service; and,
• Excellent communication skills in the English language, written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the minimum professional experience specified above, experience in any of the following areas would be considered an asset:
• Windows Administration (Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Windows Permissions/Grouping, GPOs, Antivirus, SharePoint).
• VMware Virtual Environments.
• Active Directory (highly desirable).
• DotNet Framework.
• Dell Networker.
• Java.
• NXPowerLite.
• MS ShareGate Desktop.
• MS SharePoint.
• MS System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) – Endpoint Configuration Manager (ECM).
• MS System Center Orchestrator Manager (SCOM).
• LCSS Coordinator (DND-specific).
• Variable Message Format (VMF) to Canadian Database (CDB) Converter (VMF2CDB) (DND-specific).

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between
Total Target Cash (TTC) 87,936.75 - 146,300.00 CAD Annual
