Hours per week: Up to 24 hours per week - Current hours anticipated to be 24 hours per week
Status: Part-Time (Temporary)
Effective: ASAP - February 1, 2023

Reporting to the Manager, Employment Services, the incumbent creates, researches and presents on career and industry related research for the community, employers and industry as assigned, and provides guidance to manufacturing industry employers to support industry success in skills training and development. The incumbent liaises with academic and service areas, employers and external skills training providers to research career and employment labour market trends. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Researching skills training programs in a specified industry to create mapping of skills training available provincially/nationally
  • Visiting sites in person and virtually to interview key sources and evaluate training to ensure it is placed in the correct mapping by position
  • Contributing to all updates and reporting, including the coordination of the working and advisory groups, oversight of the collection of data, and development and implementation of the career mapping action plan
  • Receiving and making recommendations to the advisory group supporting mandated practices and encouraging consistency of practice for mapping for positions within industry
  • Liaising with Application Developers to ensure research is displayed in a user-friendly manner
  • Representing Georgian through membership in curriculum committees and by connecting with other departments in the college (e.g. IT regarding Blackboard, project advisory group)
  • Administering standardized and informal career assessments
  • Analyzing and interpreting career assessment results and coaching clients through the self-discovery and research phase
  • Facilitating development of action plans based on combinations of testing results and clients' stated goals
  • Developing and delivering training on tools and providing ongoing support to employers during use
  • Developing and implementing marketing campaigns in programs and broadly with the services and programs of Career and Employment Community Services
  • Corresponding with outside agencies and professionals regarding progress and information for support services
  • Preparing data regarding KPIs, retention and recruitment statistics and service utilization for a variety of marketing and recruitment reports

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Successfully completed a three-year degree in Career Counselling, Human Services, Human Resources, Social Services or related field
  • Three years of experience in career and employment counselling, intakes and assessments, job development and industry relations
  • Human resources experience in a manufacturing industry is an asset
  • Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and as part of a team
  • Proven communication (written and oral) skills
  • Ability to travel to off campus sites as required
